The Daily Special pilot is just around the corner

Three Little Birds

I call three places home.

New Zealand, where I was born.

New York, where I became the person I am today.

Los Angeles, where I live.

This past month, I got to spend time in all three of those places, and I'm back with a lot to share.

I started in New Zealand, with three weeks of family time. It was a wonderful reminder to slow down sometimes. I got to spend time with my siblings, my five nieces and baby nephew, and my extended family. I got to work with my Mum on her latest photography project. It was so nice to just make art with someone special to me.

It was a personal reset and a creative boost. There's nothing quite like play without any expectation of output to inspire you.

Then I flew to New York for a week at NAB NY, where I was honored to receive the Women Without Boundaries Leadership Excellence Award. The other awardees were truly incredible and humbling. We've all come from different industries and backgrounds, and have each made an impact in our respective communities.

The rest of the week was friends and facilities. I caught up with people I adore, and I met with a number of post facilities about Daily Special. I came home to Los Angeles exhausted, having lost my voice, but re-energized because it's all starting to really feel real.

Daily Special is really starting to take shape.

We're finalizing the build for the pilot, and at the same time we're building a demo mode so I can finally show Daily Special to folks instead of just describing it.

Here's where the pilot stands:

  • Three facilities in LA have signed up to pilot the Daily Special Exchange in early 2027.
  • After my conversations in New York, I'm hoping to secure three there in the coming weeks.
  • The plan is to pilot with 3-5 facilities and up to 30 users on each coast.

Two coasts, two of my homes, and a lot of people who've made this industry feel like one.

Want to be part of that first group?

Next month, I'll share a form for anyone who wants to apply to join the pilot as a Member. You're already on the mailing list, so you'll hear about it first.

This starts with the people ✊

Daily Special

I'm a former studio exec building a new type of business - not a post house, not coworking, but a connected community with open access to serious professional infrastructure.

It's great when we're together* Daily Special was in the neighborhood this week Starting the conversation (L-R): Joel, Megan, Bill, Me, Wilbur, Wendy.Photo: Cynthia Chen I said this starts with the community. This week, I watched it happen. On the hottest day of the year so far, no less. Earlier that same day, in the basement of that same building, we ran the second round of DSX testing - the managed workstation system that's going to power how people actually book and access rooms through...

We do it for the love of it Back on my feet, back to doing the things I love: Solving complex technical problems, and bringing the community together. This summer has been rough. Between the ACL reconstruction, the crutches, the physical therapy, and the slow, unglamorous work of just getting my leg to bend again, it has been a season of sitting still when I wanted to be moving. So many of you have checked in, sent notes, asked how the knee is doing, and cheered me on even when there was not...

Scar Tissue You do not come back unchanged. Sometimes that is the point. 7am, June 15th 2026, prepped and ready for surgery If you recall in last month's newsletter, I mentioned the bouldering accident I had in early March this year. Well, last month I had ACL reconstruction, which is a pretty major knee surgery. So whether I liked it or not, I really had to slow down. For someone who is used to moving fast, this has been uncomfortable. I am not great at sitting still. I am not great at...
